BIG #1: WABI SABI

WABI SABI text.jpg

For this project our teacher had us start with reading an article. With this article we were to circle, highlight, and make note of things that stood out and wanted to illustrate. The article was based in Japan and fresh beginnings. Our mini assignment was to illustrate the things we noted and add as much texture as we could. I drew things like a bowl and blossom tree. And used paper to create a temple and blossom flower. Then the teacher introduced us to the Big assignment, using our pictures to create a magazine editorial on the computer. When creating and transporting text into my own layout I wanted to emphasizes balance. I used a few of my water color blotches as a box to frame and set my text on. I chose specific phrase for the article to help relate back to my picture. I deliberately choose colors that were calming and represented Japan and the culture. For my final illustration I free handed the woman on the illustrator app. I used the watercolor textures I made to color her clothing. As well as the grass.

BIG #2: Text Portrait

mini #2:

For this project our teacher had us start by writing out fonts that appealed to us. I also incorporated color into my fonts. After we finished filling up about a page our mini project was to create/draw a shoe with only words. I did this by drawing a sneaker light with pencil and went back and filled in the space with my letter value scale. We were to create a value scale with just lettering, example, light value = thin spaced out lettering, and dark value = thick layered lettering. After we complete our value scale and successfully used it to create a 3D picture we started out BIG project. We got to choose who we wanted to use as our subject. I choose the Joker. Our teacher had us pick words that represented our subject, I choose Joker, mad, hate and smile. At the end of putting the words together and creating a realistic picture I went onto the computer and changed somethings. I changed the color of some fonts to help someone identify the character. I also reversed the background colors to enhance the contrast.

BIG #3: T-Shirt Printing

For this project we were to create our own design for a T-shirt. I choose to do a You Tuber I watch. I stated out by going onto Illustrator and tracing a photo of her. Then I decided to put a circle around her to make her more framed. After we created our design we coated a silk screen with Photo Emulsion. Letting that dry then we burnt my digital drawing onto the silk screen.

I really liked my design and accurately portrays her. The print didn't turn out great due to my small lines.
